Radiocraft 1.0.5 is out!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We Were at HamXposition!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We went to the Marlborough HamXposition<\/a> and ran a table. It was a hit with the kids! The below photo shows two avid Minecrafters talking with each other over radio for the first time in Minecraft!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media \/ Press Kit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We created a media \/ press kit with a quick start guide and some media files that may be helpful. It can be found here<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Updates to our roadmap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We had to spend some serious time rebuilding our codebase a bit. This was primarily due to two things. Namely, 1.21.1 became the “de-facto” modded Minecraft version for this season (the version of Minecraft most supported by mods), so we updated from 1.19.8 to 1.21.1 as our primary release version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second cause of delay was our choice to move from Forge to NeoForge as our mod loader in reaction to the fallout and challenges facing Minecraft Forge<\/a>, and the community largely moving to that mod loader as the primary target to support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the update to 1.21.1 and the change to NeoForge broke a lot of stuff in the mod. These challenges were unforeseen at the start of the project, but thanks to our lead developer Pop1040 and assistant developer Jared Dunbar, we’ve worked through those challenges and made some great progress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our up-next list includes VHF repeaters and base stations, as well as HF radios with SSB! A lot of the backend is already built and working for the range \/ skip calculation which will be used for HF Radios. Likewise, models are already finished (and I think they came out really well thanks to ended4499 on Discord and the talented artists at Arcane Studios. UI design is done, though we’ve learned we’ll need to tweak most of them slightly through play-testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From there, we’ll be working on optimizing antenna types, baluns, and power sources. Lastly, we’ll be working on more advanced features like APRS. We can’t wait to share more with you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
